Snowboarding is one of the sports events that we surely want to see. The different stunts and tricks that an athlete performs make us stand up from our seats and be awed from what really happened. In just few seconds, a snowboarder can make one great adventure that we certainly don't want to miss. Not only that, we wouldn't miss it for the world if the one performing is a family member or someone very close to our heart. Most of us would bring our very own cameras to capture the intense moments and treasure memories which we really want to witness as many times as we want.
There are times when we wouldn't have the chance to witness the actual sport due to some unavoidable reasons. If ever this happens, we have all the opportunity to view the tremendous event. There are a lot of ways where we can still have a glimpse of the breath-taking moves of a snowboarder enthusiast, the first time experience of a family member in the snow or the enjoyable slides and crashes of someone close to us. The best way not to miss watching an ultimate adventure and unforgettable moments such as this is to capture and witness them in snowboarding videos.
This kind of occurrence happens so fast that getting a video of it would be very hard. The one you are capturing is moving that is why as the one taking the video, you must have the quick reflexes and attention to get the highlights of the event which will be remembered for a lifetime. No matter what a snowboarder does whether it is a simple slide, a beautiful turn in the mountain slope or a terrible crash in the snow are worth saving and capturing.
You must also stay in the right and suitable place where you can have a good view of the whole event. This must be a good place where you can move accordingly and freely and catch the various maneuvers of the snowboarder. The angle of the camera is very important so that even if you are just watching, you can feel that you are part of the event and that you are witnessing the actual sport.
After having the video, you can have your personal touch of how to make it even better. You can choose and match it with background music that will make it even livelier. The music adds life to the captured video and makes the viewer enjoy what he is watching. Captions, introductions and a few animations can be added to even put more fun to it.
When everything is done, it can be saved as snowboarding DVD or CD which will be an addition to your personal collection. The good thing also is you can make a lot of copies and distribute it to your friends. Through the videos, you can watch the most memorable moments all over again. You can just sit and relax in your favorite couch and enjoy the captured happenings in videos and clips.
Tips For Learning to Ride Switch on a Snowboard
Posted by havieramascerano at 9:56 AM Labels: Learning, Snowboard, SwitchIf you have been snowboarding for a little while and are starting to feel pretty comfortable, chances are you will soon want some extra challenges such as hitting the terrain park and landing some jumps. Learning to ride switch first will give you the extra confidence you will need for landing these jumps and keeping in control.
Riding switch basically just refers to riding the opposite to what you normally would. So if you are goofy, you would ride natural. And if you are natural you would ride goofy.
If you have decided to learn to ride switch, then commit to riding nothing but for at least a couple of days. For a while, it may feel like you are learning to snowboard all over again, but it is the easiest way to get the hang of it.
Also, consider the way your binding settings are set up. The ideal set up for riding switch is duck stance, something like 15 and -15 for example.
Practising flat 360 spins could be a great trick for getting more comfortable riding switch. Start with your dominant side until you feel comfortable, and then start on your "less dominant" side.
Another great tip is practising on only one foot. Find a nice, flat strip with no on around, strap your regular front foot in and ride switch. This will teach you a lot about weight distribution.
Be aware of how your body is moving as you turn. Is it turning the correct way, or is it still going the way it is used to
It sounds lame, but with practice and more practice it will become much easier

What is a Snowboard Stomp Pad and How is It Used
Posted by havieramascerano at 8:46 AM Labels: SnowboardIf you've ever thought about trying snowboarding, chances are you have heard of a snow board stomp pad. But how much to do you actually know about the pad and why it is an essential part of the equipment? Here's a few basic facts about a stomp pad and how it is used.
When getting off a chairlift and onto a snowboard, only one foot is actually in the binding. Your other foot has to rest on the snowboard itself until you can come to a complete stop and strap it into the binding. Sometimes you will need to make a turn as you leave the chairlift. This is where the stomp pad comes into play. The pad helps prevent your free foot from sliding all along the surface of the snowboard while you are making the turn.
Utilized to help you get traction on the surface of your snowboard, the stomp pad is adhered to the board with an adhesive. The topside of the pad will also be somewhat sticky, allowing your free foot a place to step and not slip around. Ideally, the pad will be placed toward the rear binding so that you can step directly onto the pad and ease your foot into the proper position to bind it to the board.
In addition to helping you dismount gracefully from a chairlift without ending up on the ground, the stomp pad also is useful for helping to remove any accumulation of snow that may have built up on your snowboard boots. By using the pad to scrape any snow or ice fragments before you strap in the foot, you make sure there is nothing that will interfere with your ability to control the direction of the board.
Typically, snowboards come with a stomp pad. If your board does not have one, it is a good idea to purchase one and adhere it to the board yourself. As the pads do need to be changed from time to time, the pads are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace, so go ahead and purchase several.
When affixing the stomp pad to your snowboard, make sure to not simply stick it in place and consider it done. Press down on the pad for a few seconds, making sure the pad does adhere to the board with no wrinkles or puffs in the pad. Do not remove the paper protector from the top of the pad until you are sure the bottom is firmly holding to your board.
It is a good idea to make a few trial runs with using the stomp pad before you get on a chairlift. Make sure you have a good feel for where your foot should be and get used to the way the pad provides the traction for your boot. Ideally, you should be so comfortable with this process that you do not have to watch what you are doing. Those extra seconds it takes to eyeball maneuvering your foot into place and securing the bindings can cost you valuable time during a competition.
Snowboarding is a great sport and one that can provide a lot of enjoyment. If you really want to get the most out of the experience, make sure you know how to install and use a snowboard stomp pad.
Common Problems and Solutions With Doing the 180 on a Snowboard
Posted by havieramascerano at 7:41 AM Labels: Common, Problems, Snowboard, SolutionsSo you have been snowboarding for a little while, you feel comfortable down most terrain and you feel ready to start doing some tricks. The frontside 180 is a great snowboarding trick to start with and is not difficult with practice. Here is some of the common problems snowboarders have with the frontside 180 and solutions.
Not Getting Enough Air to land the jump
If you are still learning the 180s and have yet not landed one, there is no need to get air off your first one. Start on flat land as that is the easiest way to learn. Once you get comfortable, build up gradually.
Not turning enough to complete the 180
You would first need to commit to doing the whole turn. Only use your head and shoulders for turning, not your legs or hips. Turn your shoulders and face the way you are intending to turn and the rest will follow. I have heard it is useful to compare the turn with those seen in western style movies. This is where the cowboy is being chased and draws his pistols. As you launch for the jump, pretend you are drawing out your pistols and turn around to shoot. Continue "shooting" until you are ready to land. Do not look at the landing until the actual landing if at all. Your body will tend to follow where you are looking, so you you will not want to look down too early.
Not sticking the landing and crashing
Before landing, remember it is your board that needs to be facing downhill upon landing. Put your feet down but do not slam them. Keep your knees bent as keeping them locked will hurt. Start to stop only after you feel in control.

Snowboarding - Selecting The Right Snowboard
Posted by havieramascerano at 4:51 AM Labels: Catalina, eVolve, Island, Selecting, Snowboard, SnowboardingThere are several aspects to consider when selecting your snowboard. Beginners have fewer options than more advanced snowboarders. Novices should start snowboarding using a shorter rather than longer board. This will provide easier control until they become more experienced and competent. Determining what style of snowboarding you enjoy will also make a difference when selecting your snowboard.
Length
The snowboard should come to between your chest and your nose when stood up on its end. The newer the boarder, the shorter the board should be. For tricks like spins a grabs selecting a snowboard that is shorter will be more beneficial than a longer board. Adult boards are usually 130 to 160 cm and children's boards are typically 110 to 140 cm. More advanced boarders can opt for longer boards that increase speed and stability on rougher terrain.
Generally, the more you weight the longer the board should be. This aspect should be kept in mind when selecting your snowboard. People weighing 100 pounds should stay with the shorter boards, and those weighing over 200 lbs should select a longer board.
Width
It is crucial to make sure that your toes or heels do not hang over the edges of the snowboard. If they do they will increase drag and make controlling the board very difficult. If your feet are larger than a size 11 or over you will have to go with a wider board. These are available at most retailers or can be special ordered.
Core
The core of the snowboard can be made of several different materials ranging from wood to composite materials. There may be a difference in price based on the composition of the core. Wood is generally considered the best core for beginning snowboarders as it is more durable.
It is advisable to get some reviews on different boards before deciding which one to buy. Asking friends and other snowboarders their opinions before buying is a good option. Contact local retailers and ask questions. Some ski and snowboard areas rent equipment by the day. Renting a variety of boards is one way of trying them out prior to selecting the right one for you.

An MP3 Player Can Be Your Best Friend While Snowboarding
Posted by havieramascerano at 2:32 AM Labels: Friend, Player, SnowboardingMusic, who would have thought that just some simple notes for instruments and creative lyrics could help to alter people's mind sets or mood. Music has been in existence since the beginning of time and continually gets better and more definitive for every generation. Singers and songwriters can use it to help tell stories or help to set a certain tone for example in movies. As the audience, we respond differently depending on the genre of music we listen to or the atmosphere being listened in. Using your mp3 player while snowboarding is no different. It can help you relax so you can perform tricks easier or just help you concentrate in the competition you are about to compete in.
If you do not agree with this, just look how many professional athletes carry their portable music devices everywhere they go whether training or on a long flight or bus ride. Next time you walk down the street, notice how many people are listening the their "playlists" whether on their Ipod of from their cell phone. Music is everywhere, so why not use it while snowboarding to help calm you while carving the pipe or shredding the powder in the trees?
Everyone's taste in music is personally their own. I suggest the night before you go riding, load your mp3 player with various genres of music and see what your mind and body respond to the best while on the mountain. Different things help different people, so just because your friends are listening to hard rock doesn't mean that you can't listen to classical for example. This is why music players have ear phones, so they are personal listening experiences. I can almost guarantee that once you try snowboarding with music, you will never leave your player behind again.
However, as with many electronic devices, the batteries are sensitive to extreme temperature changes. Make sure your unit is fully charged before you go out, and try to keep it in the warmest area of your clothing. This will help ensure longer battery life, but also protect the player if you happen to wipe out. Many newer snowboarding jackets have built in pockets specifically designed for mp3 players. These pockets are easily accessible whether you have your gloves on or not, and the majority have head phone cord holders to keep your cord out of the way.

Ever since before, many individuals have started playing the sport snowboarding. It is good to know that despite of the coldness it brings to our body, still they make an effort to visit ski parks and have quality leisure time.
It is fascinating how snowboarding has made a tremendous impact to people. As we all know, the sport itself is risky and entails a lot of patience and dedication in order for one to become an expert. Snowboarding is considered an extreme recreational activity. It is just similar to any other activity that entails the use of boards. It is true that the size matters when planning to buy your own snowboard. Snowboarding Helmets Keep Our Heads Protected From Danger
Posted by havieramascerano at 9:07 PM Labels: Danger, Helmets, Protected, SnowboardingSnowboarding is just another extreme winter sport that became popular in the year 1998. This sport somehow added another spice to all sports enthusiasts who love to feel the intense adrenaline rush while hitting down the slopes. Being active in different sport activities keeps an individual away from engaging in wrongful acts. Some sports are difficult to start and learn especially when you are still a beginner. But the challenges and hardships we meet as we train in a certain sport will gradually make us a competitive player.
There are many sports that require proper protection. Extreme sports require an individual to wear extra protective gear such as helmets, elbow and knee pads, some even require back and spine protectors. Somehow the use of these protective gears shields or guards the most common body parts of an individual that gets injured. We never really know if something wrong will happen as we ride in our motorcycles or cars during races or as we skate and surf all the way down the snowy mountain. We may feel uncomfortable wearing too much protective gears and extra garments but without them, we would surely end up in hospitals getting stitches.
In snowboarding, first timer snowboarders need to be wise in wearing extra protective gears so as to prevent themselves from sustaining snowboarding injuries. The first timers are the most likely to have injuries since they still have difficulty maintaining balance and posture riding the snowboard causing them to lose control and fall off. When this happens, chances are we might get our heads banged in hard surfaces such as rocks and trees or we might tumble and roll down the hill causing a severe damage or injury to our knees and other body parts when not protected with the necessary gears.
One important snowboard gear is the helmet. The helmet serves as the most important gear that needs to be worn. It keeps our head protected from getting git on hard surfaces when we tumble. It is not only the beginners that need to wear this but including the professional snowboarders as well. It doesn't matter as to how expert you already are in snowboarding. No one is exempted from wearing helmets the fact that danger can never be avoided.
Helmets for snowboarding are constantly being improved especially in providing comfort and warmth, in making it lighter to wear, and in providing the individual with proper ventilation. Some manufacturers also make helmets that are stylish and offer an individual more protection. There are also cheap snowboarding helmets that you might want to purchase. It is best to check the quality of the snowboard when you want to buy cheaper snowboards. It is also best to check whether it fits you perfectly and if it is less bulky to wear. So when planning to purchase your own helmet, better pick the one that has quality and that is durable. Money won't really matter since it will all be for your safety.

We've all seen them - or been one of them. I'm writing about those snowboarders that doesn't know how to turn on their edge and instead skids sideways down the hill. Snowboarding is fun, even if you are skidding, but these people don't know what they are missing. When you skid, you can't go fast under control, you can't go straight over bumps, and you can't ever feel truly comfortable. To achieve all of these things, correct turning is the medicine that the doctor ordered. The good news is that it's not that hard to do!
Correct turning on a snowboard is called "carving." It involves turning only on the edge of the snowboard, thereby leaving a pencil thin trench in the snow behind you. In addition to looking really cool, this technique allows you to feel like you are turning on rails, to turn comfortably while going hyperfast, and to perform even on ice! Once you learn how to carve, you will wonder how you ever did without it.
Although you can carve on any equipment, certain equipment makes it much easier than others. You really need only one thing--stiff boots. Stiff boots allow you to easily tilt your board on edge, which is necessary for carving. About 15 years ago I got my first pair of stiff boots. It was a night and day difference, and I started carving almost by accident immediately. It was awesome. I still remember the moment when it happened, as I always watched other snowboarders carve, and now I was doing it. Fortunately, most boots sold these days are pretty stiff--but make sure you get a good stiff pair of boots.
Next, you need to learn how to tip your edge in the snow. Start with the toe turn. You should begin by going straight down the hill and pick up a decent amount of speed. To correctly execute a carve, you need to be going somewhat fast, so maybe a bunny hill is the way to go when you are learning. To start the toe turn, put equal pressure on both your front and back toes while bending your knees. Simultaneously you should lean into the turn with your lower body and lean away from the turn with your upper body. Once you start the carve you will feel locked in. Ride it all the way to the side of the hill (and even up the hill!)
Once you master the toe turn, go for the heelside carve. This is a little scarier than the toeside carve, but it is worth it. It is the same concept, but reversed. Bend your knees, get your butt low, and put pressure on your heels equally and tip in the heelside edge by pressing on your highbacks. You can lean your lower body into the turn, and your upper body away from the turn. Lock in the turn and then go all the way to the side of the hill.
These are the basics for carving on a snowboard. After you get some experience, if you really enjoy carving, you should consider getting some alpine equipment, as it takes your carving to the next level. Now get out there and carve it up!
