Snowboarding is an interesting sport that cropped up from surfing and skateboarding. The rider's feet are attached to a snowboard and the rider and the board descend a snowy slope with great speed. For this purpose a special snowboarding pair of boots should be used to bind the feet to the board.
This is the real sport as it helps to maintain a good balance of the body while the feet are securely strapped to a long plate like binding that does not allow the rider to get away from while descending a snowy slope. While performing this sport the rider shifts the weight of the body from the heel to the toes to stop the movement or to go further.
The snow board was initially a crude model that people used a hundred years ago. The first snowboard was manufactured in Utah in the early 1970s. From then on snowboarding became a real sport in the USA during the 1970s and has also found a place in the 1998 Olympics.
Since the sport involves much of the time on the mountain slopes, safety measures should be followed diligently. This is a winter game and hence there is bound to be snow in excess and because of this the speed of the game could be at high pace. For this purpose the rider should wear the right protective gear to be safe from the danger of getting badly hurt or at times even loss of life.
Since the most accident prone parts of the body are the wrist and the ankle, proper protection to these two parts is mandatory. Avalanches cause a great threat to the snowboarders which could result in injury to the tailbone or the head causing serious brain injury. For this purpose head gear should be worn by all riders.
While snowboarding the dress code of the rider plays a very important role. You should wear the right type of clothes that would make you comfortable and free to be able to maneuver the slopes of snow from the top to the bottom.
For a few it could be the first experience, so it is good to take precautions on clothes, footwear, and any other disciplines that are involved with the sport. It is always not advisable to go directly into heights for the first time. It is also not the right thing to start racing without perfect practice as the speed while descending could be extreme resulting in major casualty.
Keeping Warm While Snowboarding
Posted by havieramascerano at 10:32 AM Labels: Keeping, SnowboardingKeeping warm while Snowboarding!
As everyone knows snowboarding is not a warm sport. In fact it is the total opposite it's a sport that takes advantage of snow. Now with that in mind keeping warm can be one of your highest priorities. I am sure you have all had your family telling you that layers is the key to keeping warm and it's no different when snowboarding. There are 3 main Layers I will be talking to you about today and they are the outer layer, mid layer and base layer.
OuterLayer
When people refer to the outerlayer they are referring to your Snowboard Jacket and Snowboard pants. This is the layer that is in contact with the elements. Whether it is wind, rain or sunshine your snowboard jacket and pants will need to perform. Waterproof and breathability ratings are usually measured at 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000. This number represents the mm of Waterproofness and the g/m² of breathability. Rule of thumb I suggest is no lower than 5,000 but opinions vary.
MidLayer
When people refer to the mid layer they are talking about fleeces. A good thick mid layer made from something like 100% Polyester will keep you nice and toasty. This layer of snowboard clothing sits just under the outer layer. A good mid layer will have a nice high neck for enhanced insulation and hopefully have a nice soft feel. Hoodies can be worn as mid layers but I generally tell people to use a fleece designed for the job.
Baselayer
Base layers are the closest layer to your body. You will find a whole array of thermal base layers on the internet and most people consider this layer just as important as the outer layer. The fit should be fairly tight and high neck lines are advised so that if you do taste the snow you won't get any down the inside of your base layer.
If you're a seasoned snowboarder then you will know that this layered system of a snowboard jacket, snowboard pant, mid layer and base layer is a winning combination to keeping warm on the slopes.
At the bottom of this article are a few links to help you on your way if you're looking for these online.

Learning the Link and Turns in Snowboarding
Posted by havieramascerano at 11:24 PM Labels: Learning, SnowboardingThe easiest and the simplest step to learn snowboarding is taking lessons with some skilled instructors. To learn the snowboard from friends can hardly work well and it results on wasted tickets from practicing. Though it is impossible to learn the snowboarding on reading, at least you can get some ideas that you can remember that can help you make the process of learning much faster in your first day of learning.
Learning the link turns and side slips on the snowboard:
Never let downhill edges on hitting the snow for it can cause you a painful body slam. Notions from the downhill edges can be minimized as the rider starts the link turns. But remember that from the starting point; never try to switch at the downhill edges.
Keep some greater weight on the front foot, if the greater weight is at the rear board, it will result on the board going faster than normal and it can be extremely hard for turning. Later when rider is well trained, it is perfect on keeping the weight equal to both feet but during learning process, go for the front foot.
When the snowboard is moving slowly, the harder it gets to switch and turn if the snowboard is pointing downhill. For some gentle green runs, it is sometimes harder for building adequate speed for turning, it needs to have a few seconds for the snowboard to gain speed before deciding to do the turning. Speed is the snowboarders friend, young children usually learns snowboarding faster compared to the adults because children are not scared in gaining speed on the green runs.
Getting Off the Chairlift
Several snowboarders are having difficulties in getting off from the chairlift, but in reality, it is not that complicated. First thing to bear in mind is the difficulty of turning when the snowboard is moving too slow. Never try to point the board even slightly to the left or to the right because the edges might make contacts and can lessen the speed that is necessary for turning.
Next thing to bear in mind is for looking forward not at the designs down the snowboard. Look straight to the destination, even the ramps are steep, just remain the board leveled to the snow and keep it on pointing straight. If the snowboard has passed any cones of restricting turns, just go on and put an edging on the snows to start the turning.
Learning Snowboard at the Terrain parks
Never enter into a terrain park when you are not able to link some turns into the black diamond groom run. But attempt to learn sooner or later the simple jumps to terrain parks because it helps any advanced snowboard riders to become better.
The very best thing to remember from the initial few jumping is to remain the boards flat to the ramps and with bending knees. While on air, do not wag your arms feeling like wings because it would not work, and it will to the board not going straight anymore. Strive harder in keeping the boards straight and leveled even as on the air. Reduce body movements and keep the bended knees while up in the air. The aim is getting the boards flat on snow in landing with the knees flexed.

Snowboarding is a very popular and an ever-growing winter sport. Here are some basic facts about snowboarding.
o Snowboarding was first invented by Sherman Poppen in the year 1965.
o Early boards were very simple in their design and were made by just fixing two skis together.
However, highly specialized models are available today. These recent designs reflect the variety of riding styles that emerged within the sport in due course of time.
o The two common primary styles of snowboarding are: 'freestyle/freeride' and 'alpine/carving'. The specialized set of equipment used in each style is different from each other.
o Today, snowboarding competitions and events are being held at an international level. These events include 'the halfpipe', 'boardercross', 'slopestyle' and 'parallel giant slalom', to name a few.
o In 2000, snowboarding became the fastest-growing sport in the US.
o After making its Olympics debut in Nagano, Japan in 1998, snowboarding returned to the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
o In the late 70's, Burton Snowboards were created by Jake Burton Carpenter. Today, Burton has become the largest manufacturer of snowboards, gear and snowboard clothing all over the world.
o Generally, snowboarding takes place at the major ski resorts but it is a very different spot. It uses equipments that are different from the ones used in skiing.
o In fact, there are four ski resorts in the US that has banned snowboarding!
It is the increasing craze for snowboarding that brought about a revolution in the ski industry and inspired the ski manufacturers to make shorter and more maneuverable skis with deeper side cuts.
In short, if you are an adventure freak, snowboarding will be a truly thrilling experience.

New Extreme Sport Jumping Its Way To The USA! Are You Ready To Experience New Sensations?
Posted by havieramascerano at 9:08 PM Labels: Blanket, chromatic, Cuddle, Disney, Experience, Extreme, Generation, Jumping, Portable, Sensations, Speaker, UniversalThen it is time for you to put on a pair of jumping stilts and invade the city streets on your daily commute or your fitness training. Invented in 2001 by German Alexander Boeck (hence the name of Powerbocking for this new sport) these stilts on springs have already taken Europe by storm.
The structure, worn up to the knee, is composed of a fiber glass spring mounted on an aluminum structure. The feet rest on pads and are secured in straps similar to snowboard bindings. The mechanical system transmits the downward push into the spring and launches the rider into the air.
This new sport can be compared to trampoline practice, only you can take it out anywhere!
Jump as high as 6 feet, leap 10 feet strides, run up to 20 mph!...Adrenaline high guaranteed!
"At first, it feels a little weird but with the right layer of padding, you start feeling as if it is just an extension of your legs" says aficionado Jam, who lives in San Francisco. Perched 17 inches above the ground, he regularly practices on the Embarcadero.
"I started the sport last year and I am totally addicted. The moves are much like trampoline. It is a great work-out and a great way to meet people! You can't be shy about it...It is definitely an eye catcher. People stare at me and most stop me with all kinds of questions!"
Different styles have already developed and continue evolving:
* Fitness training : Within a few hours of practice you can walk, run, and jump. It is excellent cardio training: 98 % of the muscles are involved and you can burn calories 5 times faster than regular jogging.
* Street style: Street style consists in utilizing urban elements like it is done in "Parkour". The goal is to move from one point to another as efficiently as possible, overcoming obstacles in the surrounding environment: stairs, fences, benches, rails, garbage cans etc...
* Freestyle : Involves a variety of acrobatic figures and combinations of flips, grabs, 360, doubles. Moves can choreographed in shows and the need for performers on jumping stilts has been increasing.
"IS IT FOR ME?"
Anyone can enjoy this new sport; there has been minimal failure among the people who tried. Just like any other sport, you need to go through a learning curve and the results will depend on your physical ability. Use protection gear as you would for skateboarding or rollerblading. Using common sense will reduce the risk of falls.
A Veteran Skier Goes Snowboarding

I've skied forever I thought, how hard can snowboarding be? After all, I surfed as a kid and skateboarded incessantly. I'm still a decent skateboarder at almost 50 years old although I rarely do it, and there are big similarities. Besides, my 9 year old son wants to take it up so I decided I'd sneak off during the week and try it first.
I snuck off to the mountain midweek and rented a board for half a day. "The bunny slope sounds about right," I thought, at least for starters. Strapping myself in was awkward, but moving by pushing with one foot while the other was strapped in sideways was more awkward. Getting on the lift was even hard, but at least I didn't fall getting off.
Snowboarding, at least initially, doesn't feel like skiing. I took me 1/2 an hour to get down that little bunny slope, most of it on my ass. One part was too steep so I slid down it after trying to stand up about 6 times. My second ride was much better, and after a dozen rides I could sort of do it, but with little control.
I returned and took a lesson later that week. Here's what I learned. You need to lean forward, and not worry about tipping over forwards; no way will this happen. You steer with the front of the board, entirely unlike skiing. Your rear boot must be tight, or you cannot steer. If it's uncomfortable, there may be snow or ice build up underneath your foot.
I can snowboard now, although I must say I suck big time. I'll do it again for sure. If you decide to try it, let me recommend lessons, and expect to spend a fair amount of time on your butt!

Is it Worth Getting Advanced Snowboarding Lessons?
Posted by havieramascerano at 6:45 PM Labels: Advanced, Getting, Lessons, SnowboardingSo you have been riding for a while, and except for a few pointers here and there, you have pretty much taught yourself. That is pretty impressive. So is there any point to ever getting snowboard lessons?
Here are some reasons for getting some extra help on the slopes:
Eliminating any bad habits. You cannot see yourself snowboarding. Having someone watch you and point out any bad habits can be very useful.
Reaching your goals faster. Perhaps you would like more confidence and control on double blacks, or more air in the terrain park. Even a 1 hour lesson can give you some new information and set you on your way to achieving these goals faster.
Learning different techniques. You may be quite confident and in control on most terrain and still you may not know everything about snowboarding. Sometimes, even a small suggestion about a new way to turn can make a huge difference.
Seeing more of the park If you are new to the area, an instructor may be able to take you off the beaten path and show you the best that the resort has to offer.
Challenging yourself in the safest possible way. You may have said to yourself: "tomorrow I will try both frontside and backside 360s for the first time". Sometimes, it can be easy to focus on doing the jump and forgetting about your safety. Having an instructor with you will ensure you achieve your goals in the safest possible way.
It is true, you should ride only for your own satisfaction and enjoyment. But if you are committed to improving, advanced snowboarding lessons will make a huge difference.

How to Snowboard Video - Instruction You Can't Afford to Miss
Posted by havieramascerano at 1:03 PM Labels: Afford, Instruction, SnowboardNeed a good how to snowboard video? They are rare indeed and to be honest, I always thought that I was too good for instructional videos. Being self taught gives you pride, but then you slowly begin to see holes in your skill and ability level over time. Everything changed for me when a beginner level friend started landing better tricks than me. I got a bit jealous but then I got motivated.
My friend revealed how he scoured the net and sifted through a ton of trash. Finally, he found a resource that contained everything he needed in a how to snowboard video. He mentioned that the videos were broken down and explained in detail. More importantly, they were available in video and audio formats so that he could take them with him on his iPod.
"Why not just take lessons?" I asked. My friend laughed and said that paying for decent coaches is extremely expensive and besides, he couldn't rewind and pause his coach while he was in the middle of his lesson. Good point!
Most of the other products on the market are not designed to build up your mental and physical abilities so that you can quickly learn the skills needed to perform. Also, knowing you have a secret coach in your pocket, available at any time is powerful stuff.
Now I am able to learn at my own pace. This product is guaranteed to make your friends feel like I did, jealous and wondering how you got so damn good. Stop your head from bouncing off the snow and enjoy your time on the hill more when you can push yourself safely everyday.

Learn How to Do a Heel Side Falling Leaf on a Snowboard
Posted by havieramascerano at 10:44 AM Labels: Falling, SnowboardLearning how to snowboard should be a building process. Each exercise will eventually be pieced together to give you your ultimate goal of linking several C or S-turns in a row. You'll want to use a toe side falling leaf on steeper terrain and a heel side falling leaf on the less steep terrain. The reasoning behind this is because on steeper terrain your heel edge will be farther away from "catching" than it is on flatter terrain. You would much rather catch your toe edge than your heel edge because it's a lot less dangerous of a fall.
They call it a falling leaf because when you go down the hill it's supposed to look similar to a leaf falling out of a tree. When you're learning how to do the falling leaf you want to start out with your board traveling across the hill, never straight down the hill as this will give you a lot of speed. To achieve this, subtle movements are crucial.
To start the heel side falling leaf you're going to be facing down hill doing a heel slip. Continue doing a heel slip until you feel in control enough to change directions and gain a little speed. Once you feel confident enough you're going to softly and slowly push on your toe in the direction you want to go, then lift that same toe to side slip, or in other words, control your speed.
So if you want to go across the hill to your right, you're going to push down on your right toe slowly until your board starts going in that direction. Once it does and you have a small amount of speed you're going to lift your right toe and slowly come back to a heel slip. Be sure when your board starts sliding in the direction you want to go you don't keep pushing on your toe because you'll catch your toe edge and fall. When you come back to the heel slip, make sure your knees are bent and your weight is even on both feet.
A few other things you can do to help this process is to first make sure your weight is always more on your downhill foot, this is more important when you're learning or when you up the skill level of the terrain. Don't look down at your snowboard, one of the cardinal rules of snowboarding for beginners is you're going to go wherever you look. So also don't look at trees, rocks, cliffs, people in the run below you, or bears because you're more likely to run into them. It's a weird phenomena but it almost never fails.
Snowboards- The Game of Extreme Guys
Posted by havieramascerano at 10:43 AM Labels: APPROVAL, COLLATERAL, DOCUMENTS, Extreme, NEEDED, SnowboardsPerhaps that brave heart, MJ Burchett, hadn't a clue when he put his life into risk and invented what is now known and celebrated as x-treme games. Way back in 1929 strapped a simple wooden plank to his feet and lurched forward to slide down snow clad hill. He probably couldn't help kick starting a new business in the snowboards arena.
Snowboarding gears and equipments are not hard to choose from if you are a pro. For the new comers it would not be an easy choice with so much to choose from. Of course, like all sincere beginners they would have read so much about how and what to buy and a few will also get their seniors/coaches to accompany them to the stores.
How to Buy Snowboard Gears
You are at the neighborhood specialty sports stores with a list of things to buy in your hand.
Snowboards
Bindings
Snowboard Bags
Snowboard bags etc
Clearly, for snowboards, your choices are
Burton Snowboards
Salomon Snowboards
Ride Snowboards
Kids Snowboards
Burton Snowboards are made for all mountain terrain and separately designed for men, women and kids with differing sizes and weights. Overall length is 158 to 167 CM long for adults with weight upto 90+ KGs. It is much the same for Salomon Snowboards but the nose curve is designed with females and beginners in mind. The energy distribution, the side boards and a bit smaller length help them till they grow in confidence.
Regardless of who rides, snowboards need to have these qualities:
Scientific edge cut and radius
Designed in bi-axial laminate
A 146- 158 CM binding stance for kids and adults respectively
If you are thrilled to snowboard on just anywhere, Burton snowboards are your choice, for their ruggedness. For bindings, check for heel and toe support. Shoe straps and the contoured bottom soles give slip protection. Ensure straps have buckles and not Velcro alone. Always buy from familiar stores and remember to ask for discounted rate.

The Burton Custom Snowboard is very popular among riders, many professional riders have tried it and Burton strives on improving this deck every year. Now available in big sizes, it is the board to swear by and here is a Burton Custom review.
As the Air snowboard, this Custom features a Negative Core profile with this time a Super Fly II Core which brings a slight improvement from the Air. The Custom has a softer and more freestyle flex and a torsion suitable for park, pipe and rails riding with a nice response.
In addition to all the key features of the Air, the Custom inserted Carbon I-BEAM and it makes an interesting difference about the added Pop and longitudinal snap. Burton also shipped the Custom with the Sintered WFO base which is the fastest Sintered base Burton has made and still having the possibility to display an awesome design.
Another difference from its counterpart, the sidewall is the New Pro 10:45 which makes the board a nice one to go off-piste cutting the pow and the crud. This number is a result from studying the past Custom Boards which did not fit perfectly this type of condition.
The Burton Customis perfect for intermediate Freestylers who want to progress in tricks from pipe and rails to big airs. This board is a great one you can stick with as it is a professional one. People usually say: "A sick Board!!" while talking about this Custom. Even professional riders such as Mads Jonsson who broke the world record for the biggest air in Norway, Heikki Sorsa and Mason Aguirre (sponsored by Burton) who is stating that he is riding the best product; they all made a Burton Custom review and each review praises the board.
